Saying goodby to the college kid. It's true it is much more fun being friends with your kids when they are grown. My oldest goes back to college today and I am sad ( : However I look forward to having her home for a few weeks in May when the next one graduates from high school. It was fun to see all of them at a friend's party last night. Visiting and laughing, teasing, etc. Makes me really miss my sisters who are too far away to visit regularly. Oh well.

Buried Alive review

I found "Buried Alive" about Roy Hallums to be an excellent book. I was apprehensive about reading it, thinking it might be a religious rant against Islam or a condescending view towards the middle east but it was not either. Instead I found it to be a well-written, factual account of an experience most of us could not even begin to fathom. I tend to skip over details of pain or torture in books I read but Mr. Hallum's self-discipline and control throughout the ordeal made it much easier to read about in his book. Kudos to him and his family for coming through this horrific episode as true heros.
